The ESCWA Statistical Information System (ESIS) is a system for storing, managing, and retrieving statistical indicators for a specified group of countries/regions and a specified time series. It incorporates a core database, which is accessed by both a desktop component and an online web-based component.
The ESIS database is developed using Microsoft SQL Server, the enterprise data management platform that provides rich data analysis and data mining capabilities. To facilitate access to the database, and to provide a common interface and a consistent feel for all ESCWA users, an application that constitutes the desktop component of the ESIS.
- The desktop component allows ESCWA staff to manage and update the statistical data.
- The web component makes ESIS accessible for ESCWA member states, researchers, and decision-makers from the region and elsewhere.
- Using both interfaces, users can dynamically customize complex output reports and charts easily using our multi-dimensional report customization tool.
In addition, both interfaces are bilingual (Arabic/English) and have advanced customized access credential management which gives flexibility to the administrator to control user access by group or by user to any of the system components.
